Mission Statement
Full Circle Treatment Center is changing lives; one teen, one family at a time, through early intervention and treatment of substance abuse.
Program Statement
FCTC is dedicated to reducing the harmful effects of adolescent substance abuse. Providing early intervention for these and other destructive behaviors supports healthy families and makes stronger communities. Providing parenting education and ongoing aftercare promotes sustained success.
Drug Testing also may be a good option. Early intervention is the best chance for successful intervention. read full article here— Christy Crandell, The Sacramento Bee, August 3, 2010
Program Description
Our treatment team is lead by a licensed clinical Psychologist with supervision credentials and three years experience supervising drug and alcohol counselors and therapists. Our agency seeks to change teen lives, one teen, one family at a time through early intervention and treatment of substance abuse. We use a variety of treatment modalities and evidence based curriculum to address what has been called the “#1 public health problem-the epidemic of adolescent substance abuse” by the National Center on Addiction and Substance Abuse (CASA) at Columbia University.
Our program utilizes a 10 week intensive period where teens are in attendance 4 times per week for 3 hours per day in the evenings thus allowing them to remain engaged with their school activities and familiy. They are drug tested three times per week and participate in individual, group and family therapy. Parents are required to attend parenting classes utilizing an evidence based curriculum designed specifically for intervening in difficult teen behaviors. Once a teen is deemed “stable” with respect to their substance use they are gradually stepped down to three then two then one day per week for the balance of the full year of treatment. Treatment focuses on a full bio-psycho-social plan for long term success. At six months of treatment, teens are invited to become mentors to help teens new to the program become successful.
Full Circle Treatment Center is the only substance abuse program specifically for adolescents in our county. It is a fee for service program with a sliding scale and our fund raising efforts and grant funds are used to supplement the sliding scale and provide full scholarships for those without access to private health insurance or private funding sources. We are a preferred provider for three behavioral health insurance plans. We collaborate with the Placer County Juvenile Probation Department, all the local high schools, Roseville and Rocklin Police Departments and the County Sheriff’s department as well as the County Children’s System of Care. The objective is to increase school attendance, high school graduation rates, improve family relationships and promote a drug free lifestyle among our community teens.
As part of our mission we are committed to providing Masters level Marriage and Family Therapists, Masters of Social Work and Drug and Alcohol Counselors. We have a formal 6 month training program with a competitive interview process. We are currently collaborating with all the local graduate level professional schools. We have four interns at a time for a six month period. They go through a rigorous training program, co-facilitate groups, shadow assessments, individual and family therapy and participate in multi-disciplinary team case management.
Interns are given individual clients when those clients have entered the step down phase of treatment. We created this model because research has shown that the majority of teen substance abusers have a co-occurring mental health issue. Most Master’s level clinicians have very little exposure to or training in the identification and treatment of substance use disorders. When interns complete their training at Full Circle they are skilled in assessing teen substance use issues and the particular family dynamics that contribute to the problem. Further, they learn specific intervention skills to help create motivation for change amongst this population and what particular treatment models are most effective.
